'THE CRUCIBLE' Tárogató Úti Színpad PUBLICITY

RICHARD CHALLONER THEATRE COMPANY (UK) return to the International Buda Stage with Arthur Miller's classic American tragedy, 'THE CRUCIBLE'. The play is based on the notorious Salem Witch Trials which took place in Salem Massachusetts in 1693. Written in 1953, Miller's play is also a comment on the equally notorious McCarthy trials which took place at that time, when the United States government persecuted people accused of being communists.

Abigail Williams and a group of teenage girls are discovered dancing and performing a pagan ritual in the woods. To avoid punishment, Abigail and the other girls claim they have been bewitched by adults. As their lies grow and they keep adding names to their accusations in the trials, the small religious community of Salem is torn apart by mass hysteria, suspicion and betrayal. Can farmer John Proctor and his wife Elizabeth save their marriage and their lives?

RICHARD CHALLONER THEATRE COMPANY are from a High School in South West London.  They are delighted to return to the International Buda Stage where they have appeared annually for several years.

They last appeared in Shakespeare's 'Richard III' in February this year and in Arthur Miller's 'A View From The Bridge' in 2017.
